Authorities are planning to release more details about the slaying of an Orthodox rabbi who was shot as he walked to a Miami temple.
Miami-Dade police spokeswoman Elena Hernandez says 60-year-old Joseph Raksin was shot Saturday in what appeared to be a robbery gone badly. Authorities said there was no indication the shooting was a hate crime. Police will hold a press conference Monday morning.
Police are searching for two young suspects. One was apparently on a bicycle and the other on foot. The rabbi was shot just blocks from the temple. Yona Lunger, a local Jewish community activist and member of a neighborhood watch group, said Raksin was from Brooklyn, New York, and was in Florida to visit relatives.
The Anti-Defamation League has been working with investigators.
