National Consumer Protection Week: Be an educated consumer with ABC Action News

Next week is the 15 th annual National Consumer Protection Week, and the Hillsborough County Consumer Protection Agency is joining federal and state government agencies to provide practical tips to help consumers make better financial decisions.
So how can you get involved and learn how to take advantage of your consumer rights and make better informed decisions?

Log onto the County's Consumer Protection Agency website for a special "Consumer Protection Tip of the Day" for each day of National Consumer Protection Week (starting March 4). The tips will deal with a variety of topics ranging from spam text messages to medical identity theft to the pitfalls and hassles of renting.
Watch the first of a five-part video series, Landlord/Tenant – Before Entering A Lease on Monday, March 4. The othersegments will include lease agreements, how to end a lease, inspections, and your rights as a tenant. The videos will air on the County's cable channel, HTV, on channel 622 on Brighthouse and channel 22 on Verizon and Comcast; on the County's YouTube channel; and on the Consumer Protection Agency website.
Log onto the County's Consumer Protection website anytime for a wide range of tools and educational resources to use including how to recognize a rip-off, sniff out a scam, deal with debt, face foreclosure and become a savvy online shopper.
