PALM HARBOR, FL -- A former local youth pastor was arrested after being accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage girl.

The alleged relationship involving Scott Wright took place in 2007, but deputies say the parents of the girl just recently found out about it, and they quickly turned the pastor in to the authorities.

As a youth pastor, Wright was supposed to be a role model for kids at Calvary Chapel Worship Center in New Port Richey, but deputies say for one youth group teen, the relationship was very different.

Authorities say in 2007 Wright had sexual encounters more than once with a 16-year-old girl he met at the church. They say the two would meet repeatedly at a home in Palm Harbor.

No one answered the door for us at Wright's New Port Richey home. Neighbors say Wright shares the house with his wife and several small children.

Detectives are looking deeper into Wright's past including his most recent stint as a youth pastor at a church in Brandon.

Deputies say Wright left his most recent youth pastor position at the Brandon church last November. He hasn't been with the New Port Richey worship center since 2007.

Wright is being held in jail on $20,000 bond.
