TAMPA, FL -- For all of you who think the Glazer's are hording their money, maybe Albert Haynesworth can put things in perspective for you.
In a conference call today with Haynesworth, the Redskins Defensive Tackle said the Bucs came hard at him during free agency. And when he informed Washington that he was going there, the Bucs countered with MORE MONEY than the Redskins offered.
Do a little research and see how much the Redskins paid Albie.
In Albert's words, "The Bucs were looking to spend money and spend a lot of it." But with all the sun and the water in Florida, there would have been a lot of distractions for me."
It obvious. The Bucs targeted two players who they were willing to pay big money for outside Antonio Bryant. One was Haynesworth, the other would have been Quarterback Jay Cutler. They landed neither via free agency or, in Cutler's situation, a trade.
Not because they didn't want to spend the money. They just couldn't get either done.
So, the next time you think your getting jipped at the Ray Jay turnstile, think about what the Bucs were willing to do. No smoke blown here. It's fact.
Just a friendly reminder.
