BUSHNELL, FL -- Hundreds of people showed up to honor Veterans at the annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony in Bushnell, but for one family the day offered them a chance to be with their Son.

"He was a great young man, he was proud to serve his country. And we're forever grateful for his service," Said Ron Burnett Standing over his son’s grave.

Lance Corporal Jason Burnett was full of Dreams when he went to Iraq and fought for our country.

“He was 20 years old at the time of his death.”

His parents say it was early May 11th, 2006. Jason was in a tank in Iraq.

An Improvised Explosive Device detonated.

“There was no escaping for the individuals in the tank. and all three of them perished that day,” Burnett said.

Since then, the Burnett’s have struggled.

“Missing him everyday, just missing him and not being able to speak to him, not being able to write another letter. Just not hearing his voice, thats the hardest part i think.”

So to feel close to Jason, the Burnett’s come here, where he lies next to the men he died with, and the thousands of men and women who died for this country.

Veterans Day is a big part of the Burnett’s life, a chance to talk to other veterans, and to talk with their son.

“W love you, we're proud of you and we miss you,” Burnett said.
