TOWN N COUNTY, FL -- Residents off Comanche Avenue are once again having to deal with a nasty smell after a problem sewage pipeline ruptured again this afternoon.

This is the fourth time the 750 foot pipe, which is located on Comanche between Hanley Road and Sweetwater Creek, has broke since it was built 9 months ago.

The last rupture was this past Wednesday.

Employees from a nearby church reported the break at 11:40 am. It took about 2 hours for crews to stop the flow from the 20 inch line.

A parked SUV was damaged when the ground gave way underneath it and had to be towed out.

Crews from Spectrum Underground, the company that built the pipeline, is on scene making repairs. Officials say it should take about 2 weeks to build a temporary pipeline that will bypass the broken pipe.

Parking will not be allowed on the north side of the street until the temporary line is in place.

As in the previous incidents, today’s break has spilled sewage into nearby Sweetwater Creek.

Residents along the creek, which flows south to the Courtney Campbell Causeway area, are urged not to fish or have any contact with the water in the creek or the area where it flows into the bay, for the next several days.
