Tough water restrictions to continue

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL -- Tough watering restrictions will continue around the Tampa Bay area, but one county will be slightly easing restrictions.

Residents of Hillsborough County can still only water one time per week for four hours a day, but they can now wash their cars once a week and use decorative fountains for up to four hours per day.

Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties are under the "Phase IV" water restrictions.  They are the strictest water rules ever imposed in the region's history.

Members of the Southwest Florida Water Management District, or Swiftmud, voted unanimously in April to implement the plan.

"These are by far the most severe restrictions ever imposed in the state of Florida," said Swiftmud's Dave Moore. The rules impact Hillsborough, Pinellas and Pasco counties.

Specific information on current restrictions for all Bay area counties can be found at SWFWMD's web site by clicking here:  http://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/conservation/restrictions/
