SPRING HILL, FL -- A three-year-old-boy, trick or treating this weekend, was bitten between the legs by a small dachshund at a home in Spring Hill, Hernando County Sheriff's Deputies said.

Paramedics were called and the boy was rushed to the hospital, but doctors say the wound was very minor. It was more like a scratch, that did not require immediate medical attention, fire paramedic Nick Babino said.

The boy's mother, Cadara Ballard told deputies she took her son to Spring Hill to trick or treat in a relative's neighborhood. He was wearing a costume, that wasn't identified in the police report. However, the report does say the three-year-old was not wearing underwear.

Ballard said, in the report, "as they opened the door one of the small dogs nipped her son on the (privates)... She stated her son was not wearing underwear at that time because he does not like to wear them."

Ballard called 911 and insisted that her son be transported to the nearest hospital. She adamantly stated she would be taking immediate civil action regarding this case.
