TAMPA, FL -- A Tampa woman, her husband and their grown son are charged with animal cruelty after deputies found dead and dying dogs at their Tampa home, deputies said.

Probation officers and deputies went to Lisa Groover's home, on Grove Point Drive, to arrest her for violating probation. When law enforcement officers arrived they found one dead dog and two emaciated dogs, Hillsborough Sheriff's Colonel Greg Brown said.

Groover, her husband Herman Groover and their son Michael Cooper were charged with animal cruelty resulting in death. They were also charged with confining animals without food and water. Col. Brown said, "They were living in their own filth."

The living dogs were taken by Hillsborough County Animal Control.
