ORLANDO, FL -- Thousands of parents, teachers and students from across the state are rallying against school budget cuts at a rally at the University of Central Florida this afternoon.

Organizers of the "Make a Schools a Priority" Rally say the crowd is so big they are asking latecomers to carpool.

School districts across the state, including many here in the Tampa area, have already cuts millions of dollars out of their budgets, and more cuts are possible.

Some schools have been closed, and many across the state are worried about teachers losing their jobs, and cuts to various school programs.

Many parents are worried. about their children's education.

"I'm concerned about the cuts they are making to my child's education, that they won't have things I would take for granted, the arts, pe, computer access in the classrooms all the things they've had in the past and they really need to succeed.", said parent Amanda Dermaso

She brought her whole family to the rally. They were among about the expected 8 thousand plus crowd inside USF's basketball arena.

The rally is sponsored by the teacher's union, PTA, student groups and the NAACP.
