LAKELAND, FL -- The Department of Children and Families is accusing a daycare worker of handing out some cruel punishment.

DCF says the worker locked kids in bathrooms, put duct tape over their mouths and hot sauce on their tongues.

The "Colors R Us Child Development Center", a Lakeland daycare, was sanctioned for not reporting a teacher.

"We are in compliance with everything and it makes us sound like we are the most horrible place," said one worker who refused to go on camera.

DCF says it's working witht the daycare to make it a better place for youngsters.

The teacher in question was fired and an extra employee has been hired to help run the center.

DCF told ABC Action News that it's reviewing the center to determine if there will be any fines.

The Lakeland Police Department confirmed it did receive a complaint about the center.  But because there were no bruises or other injuries it did not warrant child abuse allegations.

In 2007, the daycare center was investigated for not having enough staff and not being in sight of kids during naptime.

The center is now in compliance.
