TAMPA, FL -- Nicole Snyder, a fifth grade teacher at Claywell Elementary School, gave birth Aug. 12 to a little girl named Ava Snyder.

Unfortunately, Ava was born with cardiomyopathy, a disease of the heart muscle. People who have the disease often struggle to sufficiently pump blood into the body. Because of the disease, Ava needs a new heart.

In an effort to help make that happen, Claywell Elementary School is sponsoring an event called ‘Ava’s Heart Benefit.’ Money raised from the event will go toward Ava’s heart transplant.

Beef O’Brady’s of Citrus Park, located at 8568 Gunn Hwy, in Odessa, will host the event from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9.

People can purchase a meal and a beverage for $15. From that money, $10 will go toward Ava’s heart transplant.

Prizes will also be raffled off at the event.

You must purchase tickets for the event in advance. You can do that at Claywell Elementary School, located at 4500 Northdale Blvd, in Tampa. Tickets are available between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Donations can also be made in the form of checks. Checks should be made out to Ava Snyder. They can be sent to the school in care of Claudia Smith.
