Tampa teen injured in drive-by shooting

TAMPA, FL -- A 14-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting early Sunday morning.

According to Tampa Police, Walter Sharpton was hanging out near the intersection of N. Avon Street and East Lake Avenue when he a dark green Nissan Altima drove towards him.

When it got to the intersection detectives say the car stopped and someone fired several shots at Sharpton from inside, detectives said. The suspects fled the area before officers arrived at the scene.

The bullet penetrated Sharpton's right bicep and entered his side. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital where was listed in serious condition.

The suspects remain on the loose.
