THE VILLAGES, FL --  A 51-year-old woman kept negotiators at bay for nearly four hours after shooting her husband inside their home Thursday afternoon, according to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Around 4 p.m., deputies responded to a home on Bloomington Place and found the victim, 59-year-old Dennis Textor, who had been shot twice in the chest.

Textor told police that he had been taking a shower when his wife walked into the bathroom and shot him. Textor fled through the bathroom door and into a neighbor's home.

Paramedics arrived  shortly after police responded and Textor was flown to Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Negotiators immediately opened a dialog with Denise Textor, the victim's wife, and the neighborhood was evacuated. After four hours, she finally turned herself in.

Denis Textor is currently being held at Sumter County Jail with no bond, on a charge of attempted first degree murder.

Her husband remains in stable condition but is on a ventilator at ORMC.
