ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A gas leak forced residents at an assisted living facility to evacuate the building this morning.

Staff members at Patrick Manor on 73rd Avenue had already begun evacuating residents when firefighters arrived around 10:45 this morning.

Crews found a strong gas odor throughout the building and worked to contain the leak. Firefighters were able to secure the leak, which was coming from a gas meter.

Firefighters found a very strong odor of gas throughout the building and shut off any possible ignition sources while other firefighters checked the property for the gas leak.

The ALF's 47 residents and 3 staff members were moved away from the building until the leak was contained and were let back inside about a half-hour later.

No one was hurt.
