ORANGE COUNTY, FL -- Sheriff Kevin Beary says the area where skeletal remains of a small child were found on Thursday was previously underwater.
Asked if the area had been searched before, Beary told reporters, "Understand this, all of this area, we confirmed with the county, was totally underwater when we started doing all this. We were all over this area several times. But the bottom line is, it was probably underwater."
The remains were found in a wooded area about three-tenths of a mile from the home of
Casey Anthony's (

Caylee Anthony (

Sheriff Beary said investigators could not immediately say whether the remains belong to Caylee.
Beary says FBI and forensic investigators and the FBI lab in Quantico, Virginia will work through the weekend to identify the remains in what they consider a top-priority case.
22-year-old Casey Anthony, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with her daughter's death. She says she's innocent.
Warrant sought to search Caylee Anthony's home
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say they are seeking a search warrant for the Orlando home of a missing 3-year-old girl after a small child's remains were found nearby.
Orange County sheriff's spokesman Carlos Padilla said Thursday that investigators cordoned off the home belonging to the grandparents of Caylee Anthony, who often stayed at the home with her mother.
Caylee's mother, 22-year-old Casey Anthony, insists that she left the girl with a baby sitter in June, but she didn't report her missing until July. The mother has been charged with first-degree murder.
On Thursday, a utility worker stumbled upon remains of a small child less than a half-mile from where the girl lived. Investigators were trying to identify the remains. The medical examiner left with the remains about 3 p.m.
