TAMPA, FL -- The federal Security Advisory System that was created after 9/11 could be changing soon.
Secretary Janet Napolitano of the Department of Homeland Security recently assembled a task force of politicians from all over the country to make proposals to overhaul that system.
In a recent statement she said, "The mission of the task force is to assess the effectiveness of the system in informing the public about terrorist threats."
The task force came back with a 17-page report full of ideas to overhaul the system. The recommendations specific to the general public were simple.
First, reduce the current color advisory system from five colors to three.
The other recommendation was to use social networking tools like Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace to send out terror alerts.
The task force also proposed the idea of getting such alerts on your PDA through a sign-up system.
While most people we interviewed liked the ideas, others weren't sold, stating the changes proposed could cause major paranoia in our country.
