Pinellas student arrested with weapons on school grounds

ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A Pinellas County student accused of having weapons on school grounds is out of jail.

18-year-old Michale Volpini was released on his own recognizance after appearing before a judge Saturday morning.

Deputies found two Chinese throwing stars, a three-bladed circular knife and a ski mask, inside the Dixie Hollins High School senior's car, which was parked in the school parking lot..

Deputies initially got a call from a witness Friday morning who spotted three kids inside a car wearing ski masks on 66th Street in St. Petersburg.

A short time later, the car, which deputies identified as Volpini's , was found in the school's parking lot.

Volpini was arrested for felony possession of weapons on a school campus.
