NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- Pasco County deputies seized a Dodge truck, 71 grams of marijuana and a stash of more than a million dollars after a traffic stop in New Port Richey on December 5th.

The sheriff's office pulled Jonathan Mortimer over after getting information from the Drug Enforcement Administration.

During the traffic stop, Sheriff's K-9 Detective Scott Grant and his dog KT walked around the vehicle.  KT gave a positive alert near the truck's enclosed bed.

Detective Grant tested the area again with a second dog, who gave a positive alert to several boxes inside the truck.  Inside those boxes, detectives found about 71 grams of marijuana and nearly $1.5 million in cash.  The money and the 2001 Dodge truck were seized under federal forfeiture law.

Johnathan Mortimer was arrested on the federal warrant for illegal interstate travel and possession of cocaine, oxycodone and methamphetamine.  He has since been transferred to Tampa for a hearing.

His wife, Kathryn Mortimer, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, trafficking in a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
