Pasco deputies return fire while serving search warrant

HOLIDAY, FL --  Pasco County deputies serving a search warrant returned fire on a man Friday morning after he pulled a pistol and began shooting at them, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, 38-year-old Luther Hudson, was hit in the chest and died at the scene.

The deputies were at the home Hudson's home at 3550 Windham Drive around 5:30 a.m. serving a drug-related search warrant when the gunfire broke out.

One deputy was hit by a bullet, but was saved by his bulletproof vest and wasn't seriously hurt.

The deputy who shot Hudson is an 8-year veteran of the Pasco Sheriff's Office. His name has not been released.

Several others at the home, including Hudson's brother, were arrested on drug charges.
