The Major Accident Investigation Team has arrested Jared Shannon in connection with a crash that happened at about 4:00 a.m. on March 18, 2009 on US 19 at Curlew Road in Palm Harbor.

Investigators say the driver of a Chevy Cobalt, Anthony Morales was northbound in the curb lane on US 19 at Curlew Road stopped at the red light.

Lieutenant Terry Sterling was stopped just behind him. The driver of a 1998 Honda Civic, 22-year-old Jared Shannon came from behind, did not stop, and ran into Lt. Sterling's cruiser, pushing the cruiser into Morales' car.

Lt. Sterling was transported by ambulance to Bayfront Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Morales was treated and released at the scene.

Shannon was transported by ambulance to Mease Countryside Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say Shannon voluntarily submitted to blood testing.
