PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- A mother faces charges after investigators say she drove drunk with her 5-month-old baby boy in the backseat and crashed into another vehicle.

St. Petersburg Police arrested 28-year-old Billie Vercellona after a DUI crash early Friday.

A witness, Kimberly Crone, called 911 after seeing a driver in a white pickup truck driving erratically. Crone followed the truck until it crashed into Ted Manooch's truck and home.

Manooch awoke to the crash and walked outside. Crone grabbed the baby from the truck and brought him to safety. The baby was in a car seat but not strapped in.

The baby boy was transported to All Children's Hospital and later released to his grandmother.

Vercellona was taken to Bayfront Medical Center. As medical staff attempted to treat her, Vercellona started fighting against the nurses.

Vercellona was then transported to the Pinellas County Jail. She has been charged with one count each of child abuse and DUI with property damage as well as three counts of battery on health services.
