SANFORD, FL -- A man whose 20 year old son was shot to death by his mother is suing the gun range where the murder-suicide took place.
Charles Marvin Moore alleges in a wrongful death lawsuit that the Shoot Straight gun range in Casselberry was negligent and didn't properly protect Mitchel Lee Moore on April 5.
Shoot Straight has three gun store fire ranges in central Florida, including one location in Tampa.
Survellience video from the Casselberry store shows Moore and his mother, Marie Lynn Moore, using the same firing lane. Both of them were armed and wearing ear protection.
On the video, Marie Moore is seen moving behind her son, aiming a gun at his head and pulling the trigger. He falls to the floor; his mother then disappears from view.
According to police, she then placed a weapon in her mouth and fired, slumping against a wall.
Mitchell Lee Moore was pronounced dead at the scene; Marie Moore died a short time later.
According to the suit, Charles Moore alleges that Marie Moore had previously been banned from Shoot Straight after a suicide attempt some years prior.
Police in Casselberry and Apopka said they had no record of that incident; the company's general manager declined comment.
Lawsuits generally present one side of an issue.
Police said Marie Moore left notes and audio recordings alleging that God had turned her into the Antichrist and that she had to kill her son and herself to protect the world.
