TAMPA, FL--Lowry Park Zoo is welcoming its first ever koala. Bundaleer, a ten year-old male koala bear from Australia made his debut at the zoo Monday morning.

Bundaleer is a Queensland koala that had been living at the San Diego Zoo.

His trip to Tampa was unusual for a koala. Bundaleer got to fly in the main cabin of an American Airlines passenger jet. His crate was placed on two passenger seats for the trip. Three zookeepers made the trip with him.

Bundaleer will live at Lowry Park Zoo's Wallaroo Station, a 4.5 acre Australian-themed family area.

Bundaleer will lead a life of leisure at the zoo. Koalas spend most of the day resting. Zookeepers say Bundaleer will sleep or rest up to 20 hours a day. He will spend another three hours eating, and another hour moving around and socializing.
