TAMPA, FL -- A new world record could be set this November in Ybor City.
Wallace Reyes is hoping he'll break a Guinness World Record by building a cigar that is 180 feet long. When completed, the cigar would almost measure a full city block.
Reyes is building the first section of the 64 ring gauge today at the Ybor City Museum Store on 9th Avenue.
Reyes and his wife, Margarita, plan to construct the cigar over the next several weeks. They own the Gonzalez Habano Cigar Company in Tampa.
They'll be making 18, ten foot-long sections that will be assembled during the Cigar Heritage Festival. A Guinness Adjudicator will be on hand that day to certify the record.
The Cigar Heritage Festival is November 21, from 6am to 5pm at Centennial Park in Ybor City.
