HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL -- Twelve lightning bolts damaged homes and toppled trees late Wednesday as strong thunderstorms rolled through the area.

Five structure fires were reported, causing minor damage.  Two trees fell on homes, two power pole fires were reported and one transformer was hit, causing a grass fire.

Hillsborough Fire Rescue said a large oak tree split and pierced the roof of a home at 421 Deborah Lane in Brandon.

A  40-foot  pine tree fell on a home at 12806 Cattail Shore Lane in Riverview.

No one was injured in the storms.
