HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL -- Marion Lambert says the large 30 by 60 foot Confederate Flag that normally sits on a 139 foot flagpole near the I-75 and I-4 junction has been refurbished and will be hoisted Friday at 2 p.m.

Lambert says the event coincides with Super Bowl week in order to show case the memorial for visitors to the Tampa Bay area.

The park is nearly finished with landscaping, wrought iron fencing and 12,000 bricks have been placed to spruce up the area.  The actual dedication comes Saturday April 25, 2009.

The flag's placement drew some criticism in the beginning for those who believe it is a symbol of racism and hate.  Lambert counters saying it is part of his heritage he chooses to honor.
