TAMPA, FL -- Plant High School is reaching out to the community for a teacher who is in need of a compatible bone marrow donor.

Tamara Phillips went to the hospital after concerns about an infection on her face. It turned out to be a diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Phillips is now looking for a compatible bone marrow donor. Her tissue type does not match anyone in her immediate family.

A bone marrow registry is taking place on November 2 until 3:30pm at Plant High in Tampa. In addition, Sweet Tomatoes restaurants will be hosting a blood and marrow registry drive from 11am until 6pm in support of Tamara and other patients in need at Sweet Tomatoes locations.

All lifesaving blood donors will receive a complimentary meal pass from Sweet Tomatoes, a Martina McBride apron and a wellness check-up of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron count, plus a cholesterol screening.

For further information, please call 1-800-68-BLOOD (25663).
