TAMPA BAY, FL -- Look for another day of very heavy showers and thunderstorms across the Tampa Bay area.

Some parts of the area received up to 8 inches of rain on Wednesday, causing widespead flooding, traffic  jams and flight delays at Tampa International Airport.  Homes in Tampa's Progress Village had to be evacuated.

In Pasco County, at least a dozen residents were directed to a shelter at St. Mark's Presbyterian Church at U.S. 19 and Highway 52.

Forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of rain are likely in throughout much of the Bay area today, with 3 - 6 inches possible where "training" of showers and thunderstorms develops.

Flooding of streets and urban areas is once again likely.

The extended Flood Watch affects  the following counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, Hernando, De Soto, Highlands and Hardee.

The official rain chance today is 80%.

A gradual drying trend is expected to begin on Friday and continue into the July 4th weekend.
