TAMPA, FL -- John Dargan and his 17-year-old son Lewis had never been to an American football game before. They are visiting from Scotland and when their host suggested the Buccaneers vs Panthers game, they were thrilled until they watched them play.

"They should watch some rugby games and learn how to tackle properly," said John Dargan.

You may think the Dargans are too harsh, but it appears with every game that Buccaneer loyalty has waned. A third of the upper deck was empty at Raymond James Stadium and many fans say don't be so quick to blame the economy.

Joe McGee, the Dargans' host, came up with the idea of spending Sunday at the game. He is trying to remain optimistic although it is difficult.

"It is a rebuilding year. I just don't know if they have the right materials to do it," McGee said.

Many fans expressed frustration at seeing so many new faces. The loudest cheers of the game came when some past highlights with former players were shown on the jumbotron. Fans cheered loudly at seeing beloved players such as Derrick Brooks and Shelton Quarles.

Brian Althaver, a 7 year season ticket holder says he is not ready to give up his seats. He agrees with McGee but says you can't beat the excitement of live football.

"We are hold watching the rebuilding. I like football because anything can happen. I try to keep low expectations."

There was a show of true fan loyalty when Panther Dante Wesley illegally hit Buccaneer running back Clifton Smith. Fans chanted loudly,

"Throw him out! Throw him out! Throw him out!"

Wesley was ejected from the game and will face a fine from the National Football League.

Joe Dargan says all was not lost, the weather was beautiful. In his homeland of Scotland he would not be wearing shorts and enjoying a cool beverage outside.

"The weather is beautiful here."

A loss may be more dismal in the heat and sadly there have been many for the Bucs this year. The team remains winless on the season. The Bucs fell to the Panthers 28-21.
