FORT LAUDERDALE, FL -- The family of the boys accused of setting a classmate on fire apologized to the victim and his family Wednesday.

Sherry Jarvis, visibly shaken, told Michael Brewer's family she was deeply sorry for what had happened.  She said she couldn't say anything else because of the pending criminal case.

Five teenagers, including two of Jarvis's sons, are accused of pouring rubbing alcohol on Brewer and setting him ablaze with a lighter while a group surrounded him and watched.

Brewer is in critical condition at a South Florida hospital. His body is covered in burns.

His family had no comment on the apology.
