LAKE MARY, FL -- Authorities have released a 911 call made by a cleaning lady after she found the bodies of a husband, his wife and their two children on Monday.

The woman was clearly distressed as she spoke to an emergency operator.

"People were laying on the floor and I don't know what's wrong," the woman said.

Investigators say John Wood, 40, shot and killed his 40-year-old wife Cindy and their two children, 12-year-old Aubrey and 10-year-old Dillon, before taking his own life.

The 911 caller said she found the bodies shortly after 11:30 a.m.

"We went in the house to clean and people were laying on the floor and didn't get up," she said.

The operator asked if there was blood on the floor.

"I don't know if it was blood. It was brown, I don't know," the caller said.

Detectives have not released the caller's name.

Court records show the family carried two mortgages, was in bankruptcy since 2004 and had around $100,000 in credit card debt.

Friends and neighbors of the family are in disbelief over what what heppaned. "We don't understand, because Cindy and J.D. had a wonderful marriage, wonderful kids,"  friend Nicole Adams told WFTV.

Attorney Matt Englett told WFTV he talks to 20 families a day in similar situations. "I think most of them feel like there's just no way out. And that may be how this particular person felt," he said.
