PORT RICHEY, FL -- A suspected drug addict stole as many as 1,500 comic books and sold them to comic book stores to support his habit, Pasco County Sheriff's deputies said.

They've charged Jeffrey Curl with grand theft.

According to a police report, Curl stole the comics over a ten day period this month and sold them to two comic book stores in Holiday and Port Richey, Florida. The report says, "Victim Peter Keenan claimed the collectable (sic) comic book collection was valued at $12,000."

Deputies were able to confirm more than 100 comics being sold to the comic book stores. There's no word what happened to the other comic books.
