PALATKA, FL (AP) -- Putnam County authorities say an 8-year-old boy was fatally stabbed with a pair of scissors that were also used to stab a police officer.
Authorities say 22-year-old Zachariah Williams attacked the officer as emergency medical personnel took the child to an ambulance. The officer was stabbed in the cheek but able to use a Taser gun on Williams.
Williams was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
The boy, identified as 8-year-old DayQuones Hill, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The cause of the attacks is not yet known.
The attack happened at a Palatka apartment complex Tuesday night. Police say College Arms is a "problematic address" for officers constantly responding to violent calls.
