PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Canine teams were called out Thursday morning to search areas around Haleigh Cummings' home. Seven cadaver dogs and nine officers were involved.
A spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff's Office emphasized that the search was normal protocol and not the result of new leads in the case.
"The search is being conducted to insure that no possibility is overlooked in the search for Haleigh," said Captain Dick Schauland in a news release. "This search is not in response to information received, but rather as a proven protocol from other missing person cases."
The 5-year-old Satsuma girl (photos) was discovered missing from her home in the early morning hours of February 10. Investigators say they've received more than 2,000 leads since then.
The last person to see the girl was 17-year-old Misty Croslin, who is the girlfriend of Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings.
On Thursday morning, Croslin was taken away for further questioning by a detective.
Both she and Ronald Cummings have taken lie detector tests Both believe they passed Investigators won't comment on the polygraph results.
More than $25,000 in reward money is being offered in the case.
