CLEARWATER, FL -- Andrew Diaz was waiting for the the bus to Countryside High School, when he found himself literally turned upside down. Diaz was beaten and robbed by two men, Clearwater Police said.

"They came out of nowhere, picked me up and just started slamming me into the ground," Diaz said. "Over and over again."

The robbers stole a chain from around Diaz' neck and ran off. Friends noticed Diaz injuries when he got to school and called school resource officers. They had Diaz rushed to the hospital. The 16-year-old sophomore was treated and released from Mease Countryside Hospital.

Clearwater police say the bus stop is not known to be a high crime area.
