Bond denied for Polk teen beating suspect

Last Update: 7/03 4:00 am
LAKELAND, FL -- Mercades Nichols, a principal suspect in the videotaped beating of Victoria Lindsay, was arrested Wednesday night.

Nichols' probation officer filed a warrant for her arrest, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. She has been charged with violation of probation.

Nichols was booked into the Polk County Jail and appeared before a judge Thursday afternoon.

The judge denied bond for Nichols and continued the case until July 23, when she will face a judge again.

According to the arrest report, Nichols allegedly harassed her next door neighbors over the phone and then drove her grandmother's car through the neighbor's front lawn.

The neighbor's told the deputy that they had warned Nichols to stay off of their property.

The deputy wrote in the report that there were tire marks in the neighbor's front lawn leading from the back yard of Nichols' home.

Nichols pleaded guilty in January in connection with a March 2008 attack on Victoria Lindsay that was videotaped and uploaded to YouTube.

She was ordered to complete 100 hours of community service, pay restitution to Lindsay, write Lindsay a letter of apology, and avoid contact with Lindsay.
