Boat returning from Gasparilla hits sand bar; 1 injured

ST. PETERSBURG, FL  -- One person was hurt after a boat hit a sandbar off Coquina Key this afternoon.

According to St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, the 40 foot Silverton boat called the "Razzle Dazzle" ran aground about 2000 yards of Coquina Key around 3:30 pm.

3 people were on board at the time. One was treated by paramedics for a fractured arm and a head laceration, according to Lt. Joel Granata.

The patient was being taken to the St. Petersburg Coast Guard station by boat and then will be transported to Bayfront Medical Center.

The boaters were returning from the Gasparilla Parade when the accident happened.
