PINELLAS COUNTY, FL -- Swimmers are being asked to stay out of the water at the Courtney Campbell Beach this weekend, after tests showed the water had high bacteria levels.
Officials with the Pinellas County Health Department issued an advisory after tests showed a high level of fecal coliform.
Tests were performed on June 29th and July 1st, and both showed levels of enteric bacteria that excede the EPA's standards, according to spokesperson Jeannine Mallory.
The pollution may come from storm water run-off, pets, wildlife or sewage, Mallory said.
More tests will be conducted after the July 4th holiday, but results won't be known until the end of next week.
