SARASOTA COUNTY -- Emily McCormick was arrested Thursday after Sarasota Deputies say she was identified on surveillance video as the woman who stuffed a baby skunk inside her purse and walked out of the Animal Crackers Pets store earlier this week.

David Ruvolo was identified as her boyfriend and was in the store at the same time.  Detectives say even though he returned the 8-week-old skunk back to the store after learning police were looking for them he was charged as an accessory to grand theft.

The little skunk which needed special care before it could go home with the real owners who were waiting for the proper state permits.  The skunk was de-scented so it would not have survived if let go in the wild.

McCormick was charged with grand theft.
