ST. PETERSBURG, FL -- A 5 year old St. Petersburg girl remains in critical condition at All Children's Hospital after being hit by a car Friday evening.

The accident happened near the intersection of 26th Avenue South and 9th Street South.

St. Petersburg Police say Santasia Callaway was playing unsupervised, with her siblings outside of her house.

According to witnesses, she was on the south side of 26th Ave South with her 2 older brothers and another juvenile. Callaway tried to cross the street and was hit by a 1986 Mercury Grand Marquis being driven by 78-year-old Beola McGee.

The 5-year-old was knocked to the ground and dragged underneath the vehicle.

McGee then stopped her vehicle and bystanders were able to free Callaway from beneath the vehicle.
