FRANKFORT, Ky. - Political leaders in drug-plagued Kentucky say retailer Urban Outfitters Inc. has responded to a multi-state campaign and stopped selling flasks, shot glasses and pint glasses that look like prescription pill bottles.
Gov. Steve Beshear released a statement Wednesday saying he was very pleased with the decision.
Urban Outfitters caters to teens and young adults. The Courier-Journal of Louisville reported that the company issued a statement to the newspaper Tuesday saying it had stopped selling the items.
The company did not respond to telephone calls and emails requesting comment Wednesday.
Republican U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers had also joined the push to get the retailer to pull the items, as did Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway, who joined 23 other states in calling on Urban Outfitters to pull the faux bottles.
