Houston releases How-to survive shooting attack video shortly after Dark Knight Rises massacre

Just two days after 12 people were killed and dozens were injured at the midnight showing of Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Colorado, the City of Houston released a video telling people what to do if they find themselves in the middle of a shooting attack.

But the project, "Run.Hide.Fight. Surviving An Active Shooter Event", had actually been produced two weeks before the July 20 shooting, according to a policeone.com report.

James Holmes, the 24-year-old suspect in the Aurora shootings, will appear in court Monday, where multiple charges are expected to be made against him.

The film was funded by the Houston mayor's Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security Department and shared on YouTube July 23.

The film is set at a typical work office with employees going about their day—until their lives are disrupted by a shooter.

The five minute video portrays a horrifying ordeal with multiple workers getting shot down while the remaining employees begin to react.

The survival technique advocated in the video is run, hide or fight:

RUN

If there is an escape path, attempt to evacuate.

Evacuate whether others agree to or not.

Leave your belongings behind.

Help others escape if possible.

Prevent others from entering the area.

Call 911 when you are safe.

HIDE

Lock and/or blockage the door.

Silence your cell phone.

Hide behind large objects.

Remain very quiet.

FIGHT

Attempt to incapacitate the shooter.

Act with physical aggression.

Improvise weapons.

Commit to your actions.
