Two teenagers will killed in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 19 in Citrus County Friday night, authorities said.

Saige Summer Fields of Homosassa and Samatha Justine O'Connor or Crystal River, both 18, died after a 2010 Ford Focus they were riding in went out of control, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

A third passenger, Derrick James Powell, 15, of Homosassa, was taken to Shands Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The incident occurred on U.S. 19 south of North Champion Point about 10:30 p.m. Friday, Highway Patrol spokesman Steve Gaskins said in a release. The Ford made multiple erratic lane changes.

The driver, identified as Fields, lost control of the Ford, which veered off the road onto the grass shoulder, the release said. The Ford hit a road sign then struck a tree.

O'Connor was pronounced dead on the scene; Fields and Powell were taken to area hospitals. Fields died at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center of her injuries.
