Two men arrested following Palm Harbor DUI traffic crash

Two men were arrested Saturday night after Pinellas deputies spotted a car weaving in and out of traffic before it crashed into another vehicle on US 19 in Palm Harbor.
 
Deputies found a stolen .45 caliber handgun during a search of the vehicle after the traffic crash.
 
According to Pinellas sheriff's investigators, 23-year-old Anthony Lockinour was seen driving a black 2007 Ford Mustang in a reckless manner by deputies traveling southbound on US 19 North in Palm Harbor.
 
A Pinellas County deputy activated his emergency lights in an attempt to make a traffic stop, but Lockinour continued southbound weaving in and out of traffic.
 
Deputies did not pursue the Mustang, a Pinellas County Sheriff's Office news release states. Within a minute, Lockinour crashed into the rear of a gray 2016 Dodge Ram pick-up truck driven by 50-year-old Terry Johnson.
 
After the Mustang hit Johnson's Dodge Ram, the damaged sports car continued southbound on US 19 North for a short distance before it became disabled due to crash damage.
 
Deputies took Lockinour and his passenger, 20-year-old Kyle Smith, into custody.
 
A search of the Mustang revealed a stolen Springfield .45 caliber handgun, crack cocaine and individual packets of spice, the release states.
 
Pinellas deputies assigned to the PCSO Major Accident Investigation Team arrested Lockinour and Smith on a number of charges, including DUI, fleeing and eluding, leaving the scene of an accident and felon in possession of firearm following the two- vehicle crash.
 
Johnson and his passenger, 51-year-old Valeri Frederick sustained minor injuries after being struck by the Mustang.  Valeri was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital via Sunstar. Johnson refused medical treatment on scene and later drove himself to Mease Countryside Hospital.
 
Lockinour was charged with driving while license suspended/revoked (habitual); reckless driving with property damage / injury; fleeing and eluding; possession of a controlled substance; driving an unregistered vehicle; attached tag not assigned; leaving the scene of crash involving serious injury; DUI with injury.
 
Smith was charged with felon in possession of a firearm; felon in possession of ammunition; grand theft of a firearm.
 
The investigation continues.
