Two 16-year-old boys shot in Avon Park; one dead, one in critical condition

A calm weekday night became deadly at an apartment complex in Avon Park. Deputies were called to a fatal shooting at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. 

Highlands County Sheriff's Office deputies arrived to find an overturned couch next to two 16-year-old boys on the ground, suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. 

One of the boys, identified as Keshawn Souvenir, died in the hospital. The other 16-year-old victim remains in critical condition after he was shot in the face and sustained other injuries. He was airlifted to a trauma center in Lakeland.

According to detectives, neither of the boys lived in the complex and they were just visiting friends.

Later Wednesday, Hardee County authorities also reported that a 29-year-old Avon Park man was admitted into the Florida Hospital-Wauchula with a gunshot wound to the leg. Authorities believe the incident is related to the fatal shooting at Avon Park. 

They released a picture taken from surveillance video taken at the hospital of the woman who drove the 29-year-old man there. 

They're hoping to find her, thinking should could help provide key details and leads.

Detectives found two different brands of shell casings at the scene, but aren't saying who had the guns that fired them.
