A 29-year-old Tampa man was arrested early Sunday for driving the wrong way on East Fletcher Avenue east of Nebraska Avenue, authorities said.

Juan Velasco-Arcos was identified as the driver of a white 2005 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck seen traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Fletcher Avenue east of Nebraska Avenue, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident was reported about 6:45 a.m. Sunday.

Video captured on surveillance cameras in the area showed a white Chevy pickup truck turn from northbound Nebraska Avenue to the westbound lanes of Fletcher Avenue. The pickup truck was traveling eastbound at the time.

The driver continued for about one mile until the vehicle crossed over the concrete median near North 22nd Street to enter the eastbound lanes, a Hillsborough County sheriff's news release said.

Hillsborough sheriff's Sgt. Ryan Balseiro spotted the eastbound pickup on Fletcher Avenue at the Hillsborough River and conducted a traffic stop.

Balseiro saw an open container of beer in the cup holder and several empty beer cans on the front passenger floorboard, the release said.

A roadside field sobriety examination was conducted and as a result Velasco-Arcos was arrested for DUI, or driving under the influence. According to the release, Velasco-Arcos was transported to Central Breath Test, where his blood alcohol content registered .198, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Velasco-Arcos was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.

Sunday's arrest was Velasco-Arcos' fourth DUI arrest in the past year, the release said.
