Shoplifter on loose after taking baby formula, men's clothing from store

An unidentified man walked Saturday into a Walmart on Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico, picked up more than 100 cans of baby formula and an undetermined amount of men's clothing, and walked out without paying for any of it.

Now Hillsborough County deputies have launched a search and are asking residents to help identify the bandit.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the incident at the Walmart at 2140 Bloomingdale Ave. occurred about 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The unidentified man took about 119 cans of Enfamil baby formula with a total value of more than $2,000, the news release said. An undetermined quantity of men's clothing also was taken.

The suspect's vehicle appears to be a white GMC work van with writing on the side frame and side doors of the van.

Deputies ask anyone with information about the suspect or incident to contact the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at (813) 247-8200. Anyone who wants to be eligible for a cash reward is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS(8477).
