A Hernando man who barricaded himself inside a home in Spring Hill early Thursday afternoon has surrendered without incident, officials said.

He surrendered after a 7-hour standoff with Hernando County sheriff's deputies.

The unidentified man walked out and surrendered to SWAT Team members just before 5:30 p.m., a Hernando County sheriff's report said.

He was treated at the scene by Hernando County Fire Rescue paramedics then taken by ambulance to an area hospital.

Sheriff's deputies said the man did have a gun inside the house, but no shots were fired.

The Crisis Response Team was set up on the 8000 block of Begonia Street during the standoff.

Neighbors told Action News the man held up inside the home was arrested last year following a domestic dispute.

Several surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution.

The Begonia and Galahad intersection is closed, as well as the Begonia and Meadowlark intersection.
