A Pinellas County sheriff's deputy traveling in a marked sheriff's vehicle ran a red light and collided with a car in Dunedin late Sunday night. No serious injuries were reported.

The traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Belcher Road in Dunedin at about 11:21 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

According to sheriff's investigators, Deputy Tyler Green was traveling eastbound on Main Street in a 2015 marked Chevrolet Tahoe and failed to stop for a red traffic light at Belcher Road. The Tahoe slammed into a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 31-year-old Karen Garland, who was making a left turn on a green light.

Deputy Green was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported by Garland and her two passengers.

Deputies assigned to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office's Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating the traffic accident. No information about charges were released.

Green has been on the sheriff's office force since September 2013.
